Overview of Device Remote Control in Client Manager

Asset Vision Client Manager provides the ability to remotely manage Android and iOS devices via the UI. Once a device has been enrolled in MDM, you can perform many different actions from installing applications to wiping a device. Some of these actions are referrenced throughout Asset Vision Help. For the sake of convenience, below is a comprehensive list of all of the actions.

Within the Device Actions, context menu for both iOS and Android devices. If a menu item is greyed out, it is because that action is not supported for that device.

  • Change Data Roming - This setting takes effect on a one-time basis. The user may still be able to change the settings at a later time. This command may not be supported by some carriers.
  • Change Device Name - This setting takes effect on a one-time basis. The user may still be able to change the settings at a later time.
  • Change Personal Hotspot - This setting takes effect on a one-time basis. The user may still be able to change the settings at a later time. The Personal Hotspot setting is only available on certain carriers.
  • Change Voice Roming - This setting takes effect on a one-time basis. The user may still be able to change the settings at a later time. The voice roaming setting is only available on certain carriers. Disabling voice roaming also disables data roaming.
  • Clear Passcode - Clears the passcode or password used to secure the device. Supported with both Android and iOS devices.
  • Clear Restrictions Password - This command allows the server to clear the restrictions password and restrictions set by the user on the device. Supervised only.
    Available in iOS 8 and later.
  • Disable Lost Mode - This command allows the server to take the device out of MDM lost mode. This command available in iOS 9.3 and later and may be used only in supervised mode.
  • Enable Lost Mode - This command allows the server to put the device in MDM lost mode, with a message, phone number, and footnote text. This command available in iOS 9.3 and later and may be used only in supervised mode.
    • Supported parameters:
      • Message: this message is displayed on the lock screen.
      • Phone Number: this phone number is displayed on the lock screen.
      • Footnote: this footnote text is displayed in place of “Slide to Unlock.”
  • Erase - Erases or wipes a device to its factory configuration. If a device contains more than one profile, only the managed profile will be wiped, and the device will not be reset to factory default. Supported with both Android and iOS devices.
  • Flush Apps - Initiates a resynce of the apps between the device and Client Manager. Supported with both Android and iOS devices.
  • Install Apps - Installs a selected application(s) on a given device. Supported with both Android and iOS devices.
  • Install Enterprise Apps - Installs an application(s) from the Apple Enterprise App Catalog on a given device.
  • Install Profiles - Installs a profile(s) on a given device. Profile settings will only be enforced on managed device profile. Supported with both Android and iOS devices.
  • Lock - Locks the selected device, even if the device is currently in use. The device will need to be unlocked manually from the device lock screen. Supported with both Android and iOS devices.
  • Ping - Initiates a Ping command for the selected device. Supported with both Android and iOS devices.
  • Play Lost Mode Sound - Initiates the "Play Sound" action available in the "Find My iPhone" functionality available on iOS devices.
  • Purge Deferred - Purges any deferred commands for the selected device. A deferred command is one that has been issued, but has not occurred on the target deviced. Supported with both Android and iOS devices.
  • Request Mirroring - This command allows to start AirPlay mirroring. This command available in iOS 7 and later.
    Supported parameters:
    • Destination Name: the name of the AirPlay mirroring destination. For Apple TV, this is the name of the Apple TV.
    • Destination Device ID: the device ID (hardware address) of the AirPlay mirroring destination, in the format "xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx". This field is not case sensitive.
    • Scan Time: number of seconds to spend searching for the destination. The default is 30 seconds. This value must be in the range 10300.
    • Password: the screen sharing password that the device should use when connecting to the destination.
      Note: Either Destination Name or Destination Device ID must be provided. If both are provided, Destination Device ID is used.
  • Rescan - Initiate a manual Scan of a device that has already been scanned. Supported with both Android and iOS devices.
  • Restart - Initiate a manual Restart of a device.
  • Retry Deferred - Retries any deferred commands immediately upon request. Supported with both Android and iOS devices.
  • Shut Down - Initiate a remote shutdown of a target device.
  • Stop Mirroring - This command allows to stop AirPlay mirroring. This command available in iOS 7 and later in supervised mode only.
  • Apply App Restrictions - Forces the application of an App Restriction to the target device. Supported with both Android and iOS devices.
