How to Enroll an iOS Device Already in Use

This lesson explains how to enroll a iDevice within Asset Vision® Client Manager from both the administrator and user perspective.

Add a User that Will be Enrolling the Device

Navigate to Client Manager > Users, expand Users, then click on Population. From here you will need to add the users who are enable to enroll devices.

There are two ways to add users:

  1. Add an individual user manually.
  2. Import a list of users with their extended information.

Please refer to the lesson on the Basics of Importing if you need more information regarding importing a list of users.

To continue adding an individual user manually, click New, and in the pop-up dialog, select User, and click OK.

Complete the User Information

  1. Add the user's first and last name.
  2. Add the an email address. This must be an email address that is accessible on the device either through a standard email client of via a web mail system.
  3. Add the mobile phone, business phone, Department, and/or Company Branch of the user if desired.
  4. If the user already has an existing User ID in Asset Vision, it can be added here.
  5. If the user is already associated with a user that has a VPP account, it is shown here.

Enable the user(s) for Enrollment

  1. Select the user or users you want to start enrollment for.
  2. Right-click and select Start Enrollment, or check the checkbox next to the desired user(s) and click the Start Enrollment button.
  3. Select when you want enrollment to expire for this user or group of users.
  4. Enter the number of different devices this user is enabled to enroll.
  5. Check Install Asset Vision App Store for iOS if the enrollment is to add the Asset Vision app store to the device at time of enrollment.
  6. Finally press Enroll to start the enrollment process.

  1. In the body of the email received on the device will be a URL with the automatically generated token. Click the URL to start the enrollment process
  2. This will in a moment launch the first step of the enrollment process which installed the certficate from Asset Vision® Client Manager that the device uses to verify the authenticity of the enrollment URL. If the server has been verified by Apple, a green Verified indicator will be visible. Select Install to continue
  3. You will be given the option to install the device management profile from your Asset Vision® Client Manager instance. Select Install Now to continue

The profile will now start installing

  1. You will presented with a warning message to indicate that a new root certificate is being installed. This is the identify that ensures your device can only respond to additional profiles from your instance of Asset Vision® Client Manager. Click install to continue
  2. The profile with continue installing. When it is complete Click Done. (Done is not shown on this image as the image was taken while the profile was still installing)
