How to Create or Amend a Device Profile
This lesson details how device configuration profiles are created and amended within Asset Vision. This lesson concentrates on how to navigate the various profiles. For a detailed explanation of what each profile parameter means, please review this Apple document. This document explains the meaning of the configuration parameters as expressed in the iPhone Configuration Utility, which is a workstation based tool for configuration of iOS devices. Asset Vision uses the same parameters used for Over the Air configuration.
Navigate to the Profiles Menu and Click New
Navigate to Client Manager > Devices > Profiles.
This display list the configuration profiles that have been defined to Asset Vision. The columns have the following meaning:
- Name: Name of the profile.
- Description: A more detailed description of the profiles.
- Organization: An organizational element, defined elsewhere within Asset Vision, that can optionally linked to the configuration profile.
- Unique Identifier: An automatically generated unique identifier for the profile.
- In order to create a new profile select New.
Fill Out Profile Information
The left hand panel indicates which of the configuration payload types is the current focus of the settings. Upon entry the general payload is selected.
- Add the profile name.
- A meaningful description.
- Optionally select an organization previously configured in Asset Vision.
- Choose the circumstance under which the profile can be removed.
- Select Save when finished.
Fill Out Passcode Information
- Selecting another profile payload you will be prompted as to whether you want to start configuration.
- Select Configure to start configuration of this payload.
- It is possible to configure several payloads within a single configuration profile. Each payload configured, before the whole profile is saved, will be identified with a red asterisk
