What is Asset Vision® Client Manager?

Client Manager is an Asset Vision® application that enables proactive management of various client devices. Currently that list includes Apple iOS and Google Android devices.

Client Manager runs inside your hosted instance of Asset Vision® and adds new capabilities, menus and reports required by IT professionals responsible for managing the increasing number of mobile client devices.

Asset Vision® Client Manager is integrated with and authorized by the mobile device management (MDM) services provided by the major Operating Systems vendors (currently Apple and Google), to communicate with and configure the devices under management.

  • Where supported by vendors, Client Manager enables the separation of corporate apps from BYOD apps. Supports governance and security policies, enables IT to perform actions on devices, such as “lock,” “reset passcode,” “wipe,” and “install apps or profiles.”
  • Protects corporate assets. Provides visibility for potential security breaches. Reviews all devices enrolled into Asset Vision and checks device policy compliance, allocation, and activity logging.

  • Provides accurate and timely reporting to help manage cost and compliance through detailed device inventory

How is Asset Vision® Client Manager Architected?

How is Asset Vision® Client Manager Architected?
  1. Scalable is an approved member of the relevant Apple and Google MDM developer programs, and as such a customer’s instance of Asset Vision is able to participate and connect to a vendor’s MDM system, which is required to enable management of iOS and Android devices.
  2. Once a customer’s Client Manager instance has been registered with the vendor’s MDM system, a device can be enrolled with Client Manager using the procedures provided and mandated by Apple or Google.
  3. During enrollment, a device validates with Apple or Google that it is enrolling to an approved management server.
  4. A positive response enables and completes the enrollment.
  5. A full range of management and configuration capabilities now becomes available for enrolled devices. These are discussed in other chapters in this manual.
