How to Register a New User into VPP
This lesson explains how to register a new user into the Apple Volume Purchase Program.
Select Users and Register into VPP
After a VPP token has been added you can add new VPP users. Licenses can only be assigned to registered VPP users. To register users with VPP:
Navigate to Client Manager > Users > Population.
- Select user record(s).
- Either right-click the record, hover over VPP in the context menu and click Register into VPP OR click the Register Selected into VPP button at the bottom.

Upon successful registration, selected users appear under the Client Manager > Users > VPP Users menu.
The actual user identifier passed into Apple is a randomly generated UUID which can be found on the VPP Users view hidden under + button and associated email. Email is used to send a VPP invitation link and to locate AV user using Apple’s VPP User identifier in case when user is registered within VPP servers but not exists on instance.
Sometimes Apple’s VPP servers do not immediately populate changes and even if action is executed successfully it’s possible that results are not reflected on UI. For that purpose, on-demand Sync Now button located at the bottom of the data view can be used to force full synchronization with VPP servers.
