How to Import Google Apps Into Asset Vision for Installation

This lesson explains how to import Google applications into Asset Vision for the purpose of deployment to a managed device. This action adds desired applications from the Google Play Store to a local, internal Google Play Catalog, which helps limit the apps available to your managed device profiles.

Search for an app in the Commercial Google Play Store

Navigate to the Embedded iTunes App Store

Navigate to Client Manager > Applications > Commercial App Stores > Google Play Store.

  1. Select the application type your wish to search for - Free, Paid, or All (both).
  2. Verify the correct store country for the device(s) to which you wish to deploy.
  3. Enter search criteria that identfies the app.
  4. Click Search Google Play. You'll now be presented with a list of apps that meet the search criteria.

Select the Required App or Apps and Import It

Select the Required App and Import It
  1. Select the app or apps you wish to import.
  2. Click Add to Catalog to bring the app information into Asset Vision (the app itself is not downloaded, only references to the app that allow it to be installed).

Review and Approve App Permissions

Review and Approve App Permissions
  1. Click the '+' icon for each individual app to expand the app permissions details.
  2. Review each permissions setting, and check the box once it has been deemed acceptable.
  3. Click Approve to continue.
  4. An Information dialog will appear (not shown), stating "All selected items were successfully saved or updated".  Click OK to complete the action of adding the app to the Google App Catalog.
