Import/Export Introduction
As Asset Vision is largely a repository for data about your organization, retrieving and adding to that data is a primary function. Although there are built-in options for discovery of the environment, and reporting options for reporting on collected data, being able to access and manipulate that data outside of the Asset Vision product has been provided via different Importing and Exporting options.
The Data View is a principal way of displaying stored data in Asset Vision. In every Data View, you have the option to Import new data, or Export returned and displayed data. Configuring an Import and Export involves defining mappings and other configurations can be saved as an Import/Export Plan. A Plan can be used again when wanting to Import or Export that same data format again, either manually or via a schedule, by using an Import/Export Job. The managing of associations of Plans and Jobs can be done here in the Import/Export section of Setup. These steps are shown in subsequent lessons in this section of Help.
