How to Install a PAD Server
Installing a PAD is one of the first things you are required to do once you have successfully logged on to your instance. A PAD acts as the Asset Vision® ambassador behind your firewall. Once installed, it establishes a secure tunnel back to your Asset Vision® instance without any firewall or proxy modifications. This Lesson walks you through the process of installing a single PAD on your local machine or on a nearby server, and verifying that the PAD has established connectivity back to your Asset Vision® instance.
Please refer to PAD Deployment Requirements for details on PAD server specifications.
NOTE: The PAD installer should never be shared to anyone other than System Administrators as it contains sensitive, customer-specific information. The PAD should only be installed on a device with restricted access. In addition, it is recommended that access to the PAD installation directories on the PAD Server be limited to System Administrators.
Download PAD Installation Software
To install the PAD Server software you need to log into your instance of Asset Vision®.
Then navigate to: Setup > Discovery Setup > PAD > PAD Install > Download and install (the PAD Installer file).
This will download the PAD self-contained installation file, which is approximately 36 mb in size. The PAD can be repackaged for distribution to remote servers if required, however for the purposes of this lesson we are going to assume the PAD installation file is simply copied to a compatible Windows machine. In order to launch the PAD Server Setup Wizard simply open the downloaded file.

By default the Nmap components are not installed, as many organizations already have these components. If you do not have them, or you are unsure, you can select them for install. They will only be installed if they are newer than your currently installed Nmap libraries.

The "Live! Server URL" is the name of the Asset Vision® server to which this PAD will be connecting. This name should be the same as the URL of your instance, but with the word “pad” as the high-level qualifier, and a connection port of 443; the standard SSL port. In the unlikely event you see anything different, do not proceed with the installation and contact Scalable support immediately.

If your environment connects to the internet via a proxy you can enter those details here. We support most forms of proxy including Squid and NTLM2.

View PAD Status in Asset Vision
Navigate to: Setup > Discovery Setup > PAD > PAD Status
The final step is to verify that the PAD has connected correctly. If we jump back to the Asset Vision® interface and navigate to the PAD status page, your new PAD should be visible. The PAD Status may show as Updating initially. After a few moments the PAD Status should show as green and Connected.
