This lesson explains the process of Local Company Normalization. Local Company Normalization allows you to identify discovered companies in your local Asset Vision instance that are not yet known to the Chaklun Company catalog in the cloud.
Company Normalization refers to the process of linking a discovered company/manufacturer record (raw data) to a Company catalog entry (normalized data).
This lesson will walk you through the process of normalizing discovered company entries in your instance and submitting them to the Chaklun catalog in the cloud.
Navigate to Local Normalization Menu
Local Normalization for discovered Company and Software Product data is found under: Setup > Chaklun > Normalization > Local Normalization.
The Local Normalization > Company data view displays all companies discovered in your instance that have not been normalized. Company Normalization refers to the process of linking a discovered company/manufacturer record (raw data) to a Company catalog entry (normalized data).
Choose a Discovered Company entry to resolve (normalize) by right-clicking and selecting Resolve or select the entry and click the Resolve Selected button.
Identify Company
The first step in company normalization is to identify the company name. Begin typing the company name in the select drop down box to choose an existing catalog company entry. If the company name is not listed, click the plus button next to the company drop down to add a new company name.
Click the Next button once you have selected a company name.
Add New Company Name
Click the plus button next to the company drop down to add a new company name.
NOTE: Before creating a new company please carefully review the available names in the drop down list. Other than for homegrown software, it is likely the correctly normalized name will already exist in some form.
Add Attributes
The Add Attributes screen allows you to upload a company logo and select any of the additional options that apply. Click Next when you are done.
Commit to Chaklun Confirmation
If you selected the Commit to Chaklun option, you will receive this confirmation. This option sends your changes to Scalable's cloud-based catalog. If the entry you have just completed is a "home-grown" application, or is personal to your organization, you may want to deselect this option. Press Continue to proceed with the Commit to Chaklun or Cancel to return to the panel.
