Software Authorization and Approval/Blacklist Management
We’ve released enhancements that will allow you to indicate whether or not software should be allowed in your environment. For normalized software data, you can now indicate an Authorization Status for a software product. For Client Manager, you can black or whitelist applications from the catalog. These enhancements assist you in reporting on software that may pose security, standardization, or other risks to your environment. Under the Setup > App Administration section for Asset Vision Registry, you can browse through products and indicate a reason why they should be unauthorized for your organization.
For Client Manager, an additional layer of control has been added within the application catalogs. For the catalog entries, you can update the Approval Status of the applications to be either blacklisted or whitelisted. When you blacklist an application, Client Manager remove it from any device profiles which subsequently removes the application from mobile devices. It is possible for mobile applications to be authorized but blacklisted, but unauthorized and whitelisted, and the other relevant combinations. IT Asset Managers and MDM Administrators can then communicate about the best way to represent software approvals/authorization management and reporting.
