Software Inventory scan discovers registered software (Add/Remove Programs and more) as well as programs (executables), along with their relationship with the registered software. Can be scheduled to run daily, weekly, monthly, or not at all.  The time specifies when (agent time) the scan will be performed.

Software Inventory Scan Configuration:

• Enable MSO addin scan: Checking this box enables the gathering of information about Microsoft Office addins during software scans.
• Occurs: The user can choose a preset time interval for the scan to be ran. The user can choose from Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Never.
• Run every: The user can enter a specific time interval for the scan to be ran based on a number of days.
• Run at: The specific time for the scan to be run, based on a 24 hour clock.
• Scatter run times: When used in conjunction with the Scatter window, this setting configures the agent to randomize the time at which the software scan will actually run. The software scan will run at a random time between the specified Run at time and the number of hours specified in the Scatter window. In the example above, the agent will perform a software scan anytime between 2200 (10:00PM) and 0100 (1:00AM).

Machine Inventory scan discovers hardware currently installed in the system. This includes RAM, Processor, and Storage information. Can be scheduled to run daily, weekly, monthly, or not at all.  The time specifies when (agent time) the scan will be performed.
