How to Manually Set(Override) a Status
Status Manager allows the user to manually set the status of a device with an Override.
Overrides are the highest priority data source for determining a new status for a device. If an override exists for a device, it will be used and all other data sources will be ignored until it expires or is deleted from the system. If there happen to be multiple overrides for a single device, only the most recent override will be processed, all others will be ignored.
Each modification to the status of a device can easily be viewed from the Change Log.
How to Manually Set(Override) a Status
- Navigate to the list of devices Status Manager > Status Data > Devices.
- Select the record of the device you want to set the status of.
1. Select Record(s) and Click Set Status Button
The user can then set the status in two ways:
- Right-click the record, select Track, and then Set Status.
OR
2. At the bottom of the data view, click Track Selected and then Set Status.
2. Select Status from Dropdown Menu
- A list of available statuses will be displayed in a drop down menu. These are the same statuses that are listed at the Statuses menu item. The configured Disposed status will not show in the drop down menu when setting a status. To set a device's status as the configured Disposed value, right click on that device and select Dispose.
3. Fill Out Additional Status Details
After selecting a status from the list,
- Enter an Expiration Date for the override.
- Checking the Make Permanent box will create an override without an expiration date. The only way to cancel the effects of a permanent override is to delete the override or create another override.
- Enter an optional Note about why the status override is being applied.
- Click OK to apply the status override to the device.
4. Review the Status Change
The status gets applied immediately. Results can be viewed in the devices menu as well as the Change Log.
