How to View Discovered Hypervisors
This lesson explains the information contained in the Hypervisors menu. This menu provides a detailed service view of virtualization environments including consumers of virtualization services, physical-to-virtual mappings and migration histories.
Hypervisor Dashboard
Default dashboard items are available under all top level menus in the left navigation bar and display information of the virtual machines discovered in the environment including the count of virtual machines by operating system and low memory hypervisor servers.
Dashboard shows:
- Machines by Hypervisor Type - Number of machines with each hypervisor type and version (VMWare ESX, Microsoft Hyper-V, etc.) installed.
- Hypervisors by Location - Map of defined physical location of hypervisor servers.
- Virtual Machines by Hypervisor Instance - Counts of VMs by Guest OS and instance of a hypervisor.
Hypervisors
All discovered instances of hypervisors are shown in this data view. Details about an instance can be viewed by clicking on the pencil icon. Guest VMs hosted by a hypervisor can be displayed by clicking on a value in the VM Count field.
Management Servers
This data view shows discovered instances of management servers for hypervisor solutions. It is possible to drill into an instance of the licensing service, via the pencil icon, to review all the instances of ESX that rely on these licensing services for licensing information.
