How to View Raw Software Usage Data
Raw Data includes the most basic of software applications including executable files. In this report, you can find information on individual programs as well as daily usage on physical and virtual machines.
The Optimize Reports in this section focus on the individual software programs that are discovered in the environment. These reports focus primarily on physical and virtual daily usage of programs to determine which programs are actually being used.
Raw Data Overview
Clicking on this menu item container renders a dashboard that contains two widgets:
- Daily Minutes in Use: Top software products in Asset Vision that show the most usage ordered by total minutes in use.
- Software Usage Metrics: Different groupings of the software programs focusing on usage.
Program Instances
List of known program instances, also referred to as executable files or applications. Program inventory reported by agent only, not PAD.
Program Instances lists the individual program files located on a device. These are executable files (notice the .exe) and often attached to a software package. The install path is shown as well. The user is able to filter by the Program Type scope.
Physical Daily Usage
Daily usage for installed software programs including keystrokes and minutes in use. Thin client usage is not included. The user is able to scope by relative date range, usage threshold, keystroke threshold, software, software version, users, and computers.
Virtual Daily Usage
This data view is identical to the physical daily usage data view however it is filtered to only show usage by virtual machines. This report focuses mainly on the usage of virtualized software programs, including keystrokes and minutes in use. Does not include installed (physical) software usage.
