Summarized Software Usage
To improve the ease-of-access to usage data, Asset Vision Optimize now summarizes software installations and usage based on normalized software products and product versions. This consolidates inventory to eliminate duplicate product installations, as well as help improve the reporting performance for larger reports.
Summary
Clicking on the Summary menu item renders a dashboard that contains two widgets:
- Products with Unused Installs: Count of total normalized products that have been unused. Includes a total of all installed products for comparison.
- Usage by Software Product Ordered by Unused Devices: List of all normalized software products installed, ordered by Unused by Device.
Usage by Software Product
A summary of Usage by Software Product will provide an overview of application products and their usage across devices, by users, and high-level cost-impact to the organization.
The report can provide information to help understand some key points regarding usage of a specific product including:
- The number of different product versions related to the product.
- Distinct Users of the product and on which devices it is installed and used.
- Where the product is installed but not used.
- Cost and Potential Cost of the product (based on provided cost and number of installations).
Available drill downs in this report allows you to:
- View a list of specific product versions associated.
- See the Distinct Users and installation locations of a product.
- View on which devices the product is used or unused.
Read-Only Summary
The Read-Only Summary report shows summary of device counts where specified normalized software products were used fully or as a read-only application.
The report can help determine whether or not a free, reader-based alternative can be substituted for a licensed application. The determination of these usage types are defined as follows:
- Read-Only is when a product has been used on a machine, but with no more than 100 max keystrokes in a given day and less than 50 keystrokes on average over the selected time span.
- Full-use is when a product has been used on a machine when a single day is more than the 100 max keystroke threshold and is more than 50 keystrokes on average over the selected time span.
These settings are completely configurable using the Avg Keystrokes Threshold and Max Keystroke Threshold Scopes settings.
Usage History
The Usage History report shows a quarterly, historical summary of used and unused device counts organized by normalized software product.
The report can provide historical usage information for specific normalized software products, based on calendar quarters. It includes information such as:
- The number of different product versions related to the product.
- Distinct Users of the product and on which devices it is installed and used.
- Devices on which the product is installed, installed and used, and installed and not used.
- Cost and Potential Cost of the product (based on provided cost and number of installations).
Available drill downs in this report allows you to:
- View a list of specific product versions associated.
- See the Distinct Users and installation locations of a product.
- View on which devices the product is used or unused.
