Microsoft Products Reconciliation Report
The Microsoft Products reports are similar to the Product Version Summary report, but with a focus on Microsoft products that have been discovered and licensed within your organization.
Microsoft Products and Versions Report
The Microsoft Products header report is a pivot chart that is grouped by License Metric. It provides information such as:
- The Licensed Product and Version
- Microsoft Core License count
- Processor License count
- Seat License count
- Server License count
The Licensed Product Version fields can be expanded to show a breakout of all of the included versions of the Microsoft product.
Additionally, clicking on the License count for a specific Microsoft product will drill down into a report that shows the individual License Liabilities for that product:
The License Liabilities report shows detailed liability information about each of the licensed units. Information presented includes:
- Software License Rule (SLR) - The license rule as defined for the specified product version.
- SLR | Detection Method - How the SLR was detected (the souce of the type defined).
- SLR | License Metric - The type of license defined for the specified product.
- SLR | Capacity Model - Whether or not an SLR is allowed to be assigned to a physical device/host (Full-Capacity) or a virtual device/guest (Sub-Capacity).
- SKU Liability - The number of SKUs a unit is liable for.
- Unit Liability - The number of Liability Units.
- One Time and Renewal Expenses - Costs associated with product purchase or maintenance renewal.
All Microsoft Products
The All Microsoft Products report provides a high-level overview of the liability of Microsoft licenses assigned within the organization. It highlights the areas of over- and under-licensed discovered Microsoft assets, allowing you to know where the critical liability issues are that need to be addressed first.
Important Microsoft-centric information provided in this report:
- Publisher and Friendly Name of the Microsoft product.
- License Metric - The type of license of the specified product.
- Software Detected - A count of the Microsoft products discovered by version.
- Liability SKUs (stock keeping units) - A count of the Microsoft product SKUs discovered in the organization.
- Owned SKUs - A count of the licenses owned based on imported license data.
- Owned vs Liability - The difference between the Liability SKUs vs. Owned SKUs. Provides an idea of the number of installed Microsoft products that may or may not have a license assignment.
- Assigned SKUs - A count of the SKUs that are assigned to a given Microsoft product.
- Owned vs. Assigned - The difference between the number of licenses that are owned as related to the number that have been assigned.
- Liability w/o Assigned - A count of Microsoft products discovered in the environment that do not have a license assignment.
- Cost to Become Compliant - The cost necessary to purchase remaining license metrics to bring the specified Microsoft product to compliance.
- Cost of Excess Licenses - The cost of unused licenses in the organization. This represents potentially-recoverable costs.
Specific Microsoft Products
Below the All Microsoft sub-report are a series of reports that specifically targets more common licensable Microsoft products. The reports for each of these products provide the same informaiton as the All Microsoft report, but only shows data for that specific product. The reports include:
- Office - All Microsoft Office-based products
- Project - Microsoft Project and Office Project products
- Visio - Microsoft Visio and Office Visio products
- SQL Server - Microsoft SQL Server
- Windows Server - Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems
