How to Create a Data View Filter
Filters can be applied to a data view to search for and display specific records. This allows the user to focus on the information that is the most important to them. This lesson explains how to use filters to search and customize data views.
Data View
- If the user has necessary permissions in Asset Vision they can view, add, and modify filters for a data view by editing the filter
- and then clicking the save(floppy disk) button.
- A data view may be saved with a filter already in place, which will be displayed next to the data view name preceded by '>'.
Add New Filter Line
Clicking the Add filter line button will add a filter selector for column and operator.
Filter Settings
After the user adds a filter line they are able to fill out the settings for that filter:
- Select Column.
- Select Operator.
- Click the Run button.
- Click the x button to remove a filter line if necessary.
Add a Second Filter Line
If the user adds a second filter they can use the Match all / Match Any drop down menu to determine if they want to match on all filter lines or on any of the filter lines.
Add New Filter Group
- The user can add a new filter group by clicking on the Add Group button located to the right of the Add Filter Line button.
- If the user adds the group filter as 'Match Any'
- then this will use 'or' between the group level items.
Remove Filter Criteria
- To get rid of a filter line, click the X button at the end of it.
- To get rid of all currently applied filters, click the filter name above the filter set.
- To save a filter, select the save filter option.
Saving a Filter
After the user clicks the >> button it will expand the save filter options.
- Type a name for the filter.
- Select to save the filter for just yourself, everyone, or specific roles.
- Click OK to save the filter for future use.
- Once saved, the filter will be available in the Choose save filter dropdown.
