Reports Tab Overview

An Asset Vision Report is the primary mechanism for presenting collected data via Asset Vision about an organization. The building-blocks of a Report are Data Views, which provide the basis of how information is presented in a report. Data can be displayed through different objects such as:

  • Raw or filtered Data Views themselves.
  • Widgets: Individual charts, graphs, data grids, and other interactive, actionable graphics,
  • Dashboards: Organized groupings of Widgets.

Most of these Report elements exist all throughout the Asset Vision User Interface, providing information related to use cases and functional areas that the product provides.

The Reports tab provides a single place where all of these Report elements reside. This helps with the ease of locating a desired report as well as group them together base more on report function than product function.

Reports Tab - Main

As soon as you log into the Asset Vision UI, the Reports tab is visible at the top of the main page as a top-level menu item. Clicking on this tab brings you to the main Reports Dashboard. This dashboard provides and system-level overview of popular data points about software and hardware in the environment. It also serves as an example of how dashboards can provide need-to-know information at a glance, without having to run a specific report to find the information.
NOTE: If the Reports tab is not visible, it may be that it's is not accessible per a user role. Please see User-Based Roles for configuration information.

The dashboard contains live graphic elements that provide user interaction. For example, if you click the Discovered Computers Widget above, you will drill down into a detailed data view related to that information:

Discovered Computers

As this Reports tab Dashboard provides an overview system-wide, the rest of the Reports tab section contains other subsections, or categories, broken down by functional area, each with a purposed dashboard of their own. Each of these categories are accessible using either of two methods listed below:

Dashboard Tabs

  1. Dashboard Tabs are on the left-hand side of the Reports section, with each tab loading a different category for a given area.
Accessing the categories with these tabs will continue to show the Dashboard tabs.
  2. Accessing reports and dashboards for any category is performed by clicking the Report Navigation buttons.

Report SubTabs

  1. Report Subtabs are below the main tabs at the top left-hand side of the UI, below the Main tabs.
Accessing the categories with these tabs will load a list of related reports and dashboards in tree form.
  2. Accessing reports and dashboards for any category is performed by clicking available links in the left-hand tree or the right-hand Report Navigation buttons. The left hand tree also provides the ability in some cases to collapse or expand nodes to access related reports.

Tip: As you navigate through each subsection, the UI will remember your last place you were last, so that you will not have to rerun any reports when revisiting a previous subsection. To get to the main dashboard for each subsection, double click the Report SubTabs. Or to get back to the main Reports Dashboard tabs view, double-click on the top-level Reports tab.
