How to View Discovered Databases
This lesson explains the information in the Databases menu. This menu contains detailed analysis of Oracle and SQL Server environment including all information necessary to support sizing or software audit projects.
Databases Dashboard
The Databases menu is located at Discovered Services > Databases. Default dashboard items are available under all top level menus in the left navigation bar and display information on the count of Oracle Editions and SQL Server Editions.
Database Inventory Summary
The Database Inventory Summary is an overview of any machine having been detected with an instance of a SQL or Oracle database service.
Oracle DB
These data views display detected instances and inventory of Oracle databases. This feature allows users to find unknown instances of Oracle (including on desktops), and to detect installed versions/editions of SQL Server for licensing and upgrade planning.
Sub-views:
- Instance List - List of all detected Oracle instances. The Capacity Model field can be set by the user. This field indicates to other parts of the system, how license usage calculations should proceed. For example, if this field is set to Full Capacity then the processor/core counts from the physical machine will be used. If Sub-Capacity is set then then only the processor/core counts for the virtual machine will be used.
- TNS Listeners - List of detected Transparent Network Substrate (TNS) network protocol-based listeners.
- Deployment Optimization - Oracle DB deployment based on the phyiscal machines.
- Oracle Server Worksheet - Oracle Server Worksheet (OSW) summary information. This sheet can be exported and submitted to Oracle's License Management Services team in response to an audit request.
It is possible to drill into the display, via the Edit pencil icon, to get database specific implementation such as databases configured, option packs deployed and in-use and service endpoints.
